Love on a Tray

Slashing blades of childhood memories
Skinny dolls and no comfort
at the beginning of the rainbow
of long lost teddy bears
The pot of home made guava
Sweet, sweet, sweet, high on the counter
And she said
“Eat your own sorrows
You´ll have many”
The little frowned girl was so scared
She felt even smaller in her princess sandals
And she imagined she was that actress she saw on
the black and white TV screen
Salome was her name
She was petrified at how
- out of love? -
the grown up queen had that man´s head cut off
on a silver tray
She could not understand
But she could.
